The third annual Ecuador Adventure Foray is back, and Mycena LLC is teaming up with our friends at Waska Amazonia for an expedition into some of the most ridiculously biodiverse landscapes on Earth. We’re talking mushrooms, plants, frogs, snakes, moths, beetles, and all the other small, strange, spectacular things that make spending an entire day gazing at the forest floor a perfectly reasonable life choice. We’ll learn from the people who know these landscapes best, get out into the field together, and spend our days discovering, documenting, photographing, and allowing the time and space to be utterly fascinated by the natural world.

The Adventure Foray will take us from the Upper Amazon to the high-elevation páramo, through the misty forests of the Chocó Andino Biosphere Reserve, and down along the coast into the Pacific dry forests. Four wildly different ecosystems, each with its own cast of characters, many of whom will be small, cryptic, and fun to photograph.
Along the way, we’ll stay at four beautiful and comfortable ecolodges and a high-end research station. We will eat well, travel together, learn from local experts, and spend time with people who understand that finding an interesting organism is an excellent reason to stop and stare. Join us for the full two-week adventure or a single week if that works better for you.
Whether you’re interested in scientific fieldwork, photography, or simply learning to notice more about nature, there will be enough biodiversity found on a five minute stroll to leave your brain buzzing for days.
